Bleeding Shock Absorbers Before Installing Them
Why is Bleeding Shock Absorbers Important?
It is possible for gas and hydraulic fluid to mix inside the shock absorber because of their horizontal position. (Fig. 1). Bleeding shock absorbers by moving the piston rod up and down several times before installing is essential.
The optimum absorption effect won’t be reached until the vehicle has been bounced up and down a few times. There can also be increased noise (hissing).
To prevent this, you must push the piston rod with your hand in the functional direction (Fig. 2).
This separates gas and hydraulic fluid again. The shock absorber will now achieve its full absorption effect immediately after installation.
